Coquito Craze with BACARDÍ Coquito

Coquito Craze with BACARDÍ Coquito

The holidays have already set in and with a week left til’ Christmas, this post couldn’t have come at a better time! Now I know all my Puerto Rican readers looked at the title with a side-eye, but hear me out, you will love BACARDÍ Coquito. Abuelita would love this, too!

For those who do not know what Coquito is, it is amazingness in a cup! Coquito meaning “Little Coconut” in Spanish is a traditional Christmas drink that originated in Puerto Rico. The coconut-based alcoholic beverage is similar to eggnog, sometimes being called the Puerto Rican Eggnog.

BACARDÍ’s ready-to-drink coquito allows you to indulge in the heritage filled libation without the time spent in the kitchen – simply pop open a bottle, pour over ice, and serve. BACARDÍ Coquito is Gluten Free. It’s made with BACARDÍ’s Superior Rum and Natural Flavors.

Following the traditional recipe closely, BACARDÍ Coquito combines their signature Puerto Rican rum with toasted spices, coconut cream, vanilla, and cinnamon to create a creamy, festive libation that tastes like eggnog on a tropical vacation.

Now, I had to invite my two Puerto Rican friends over to try it out. I told them, “Hey my friend’s mom made some Coquito. Come over and let’s have some before we step out.” When they arrived, I had BACARDÍ Rum’s Coquito Coconut Cream Liqueur already poured in a cup. Once I saw them taste BACARDÍ Rum ‘s Coquito Coconut Cream Liqueur, their lips smacked and they asked, “Who made this? This is good!”

I went back into the kitchen, pulled out the bottle and showed them it BACARDÍ Rum ‘s Coquito Coconut Cream Liqueur. They were SHOCKED but hooked in the same breath! They recanted on how their grandmothers and cousins would make coquito every year. But as we get older, we lose our grandparents and sometimes the tradition gets lost. Our nostalgic conversations continued and then we headed out to brunch.

This holiday season BACARDÍ Rum teamed up with Brooklyn’s #1 cupcake shop, Brooklyn Cupcake to create the ultimate Puerto Rican holiday dessert – a limited edition Coquito cupcake. It’s certainly no secret – no Caribbean holiday celebration is complete without a few bottles of coquito, and no coquito recipe is complete without a bottle of BACARDÍ Rum, so it was only natural that the two created a holiday sweet treat infused BACARDÍ Coquito – the rum brand’s newest holiday bevvy. These might not be your grandma’s traditional cupcakes but it sure is your grandma’s Coquito.
