As I’ve started to attend more events in Boston, I often find myself talking to a lot of straight-size bloggers…after all, I think I one of like 3 plus size bloggers in Boston. When I explain to many straight size bloggers that I, too, am a fashion blogger, I’m often met with, “That’s good for you!” Or, “I didn’t know there was a fashion for plus size women or influencers.” Or my FAVORITE, “That’s awesome– we need more of you!” And for bloggers who are sort’ve in-tune with social media trends, someone might drop Lizzo’s name or Ashley Graham.

At first, I was slightly offended by their ignorance. Sometimes it sounds like a backhanded compliment. However, the truth is, I didn’t know about them either. I am so disconnected when it comes to straight-sized influencers as a whole…let alone the ones in my own backyard. Ever since, I’ve made efforts to get to know as many influencers in Boston, regardless of their background. Truthfully, we have so much to offer each other and every event feels like a classroom–constantly teaching each other about the industry and agencies to work with.

I have a soft spot for how mighty and massive the plus-size community has grown–more specifically the influencer community! Today I wanted to shine a light on some of my favorite plus-size bloggers in the community! This is in NO WAY an exhaustive list of all the influencers, in our space, but I tried my best to list as many as I could on this train ride to the gym!

And since I didn’t get to do any holiday posts this year, I figured I’d share some of their holiday-inspired looks!

As I’m sitting here working on #Blogsgiving and looking at all the content we shot for it, I’m reminded of early twenty-something me. If you were to have told 19-24 year old me she would be posting a full body photo on the Internet, she would’ve never believed you. Twenty-something me only took photos from the waist up (helloooo myspace angles). She feared showing how big she was because she believed she did not deserve to take up space online and irl. No matter how confident she was or came across to others, I don’t think deep down she really believed she was worthy of happiness and living life. Since I was a little chubby kid I’ve always tried to shrink myself, physically and emotionally, to make others comfortable. At the same time, I would also go above and beyond to be the best to make up for my “flaws.” It’s a constant complex head game and something I still struggle with to this day. Don’t be an inconvenience to others. Move out of people’s way. Do everything you can to be number one because you have to make up for being fat. I honestly think I would be struggling with these thoughts even more if I didn’t start blogging. When I tell you my blogger friends changed my life, I. Mean. It. From late night group chats to commenting on each other’s posts and meeting irl, my blogger boos taught me about self-acceptance, inspired me to learn about social media marketing and pursue a creative career, and the power of collaborations and community. The experiences I’ve had as a blogger and plus size woman brought me to this point in life. A point where I can share what I’ve learned and create inclusive spaces that encourage happiness and inspiration. All of this is to say that if you’re struggling creatively, professionally, or personally, I believe the hype squad you build at Blogsgiving next weekend will motivate you to take the next steps in your endeavors, inspire you to grow in ways you didn’t think possible, and love on you to be your most beautiful self in all facets of life. 💗
