Happy Friday Everyone! It’s been a while since we’ve heard from our male contributor, Kavah of The Gentlemen’s Curb. So I thought today would be the perfect day to release our Style Challenge! This week, we challenged each other to wear a color that neither of us typically wear. In addition to wearing that color, we had to pair it with a printed item. Who knew that lilac was our least frequented color.
Char: As I searched for something lilac, I found this lace panel top from Gwynnie Bee . I was so surprised that I haven’t worn it yet. But the real challenge was finding something to go with it. The only thing I could think of was off white or soft colors. I knew I had to dig a little deeper than that. After toying back and forth with deciding whether I should tell Kavah that I suck, I found a way to incorporate a pattern. Society + (one of my favorite stores ever) has this beautiful leopard cardigan that I knew would pair well with this style challenge. Since I already had a lot going on at the top, a black pencil skirt balanced out the rest of the outfit. I didn’t think that simple shoes would do the outfit any justice, so I had to step it back up with my favorite leopard print pumps! How do you think I did?
Kavah : Since we decided on the color, I knew that this top would be perfect for the challenge. The shirt is a lilac button up from Polo by Ralph Lauren. I felt the color is distinctive and reflects the season. The cut fits! Ralph Lauren carries sizes for the big and tall males as well. The tie contrasts with the color of the shirt and I found an easy way to incorporate a print. I feel the ensemble is a reflection of my personality at times. The slacks are also from Ralph Lauren. The fit is comfortable, but relaxed as well. The shoes are brown vintage Florsheim. Fortunately they do carry sizes larger than 13. How do you think I did?
