If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you may have noticed that my love Soca and Ubersoca Cruise has grown exponentially! I went from liking to listen to Soca when it’s being played to people questioning if I am truly Haitian-American and singing old school Calypso in Hindi!! BAAT BAN JAYE! And for those who do not know what Soca is, it’s a style of music, originating in Trinidad and Tobago, that is a blend of Soul and Calypso. Originally combined the melodic lilting sound of Calypso with insistent percussion (which is often electronic in recent music) and local Chutney music. The reputed father of Soca was Lord Shorty (born Garfield Blackman), in Trinidad and Tobago, whose 1973 recording of “Indrani” started the trend. –UD. Please check it out when you get a chance!

Not too long ago, I received my packing checklist for Ubersoca Cruise and I must admit, I am overwhelmed. UberSoca Cruise is going to be a 5-day chartered cruise with different themes to go along with each day. While I initially thought that jean shorts and sundresses would be appropriate, I was sordidly mistaken. With Pre-Halloween Parties, Socacize, a GAME OF THRONES turn up, and Wakanda Style Ball all on the menu, I have to make sure I am wearing my best!! So with all of that taken into account, I think I am right on time to make all the two-week shipping deadlines! Below are some suggestions for the plus size/fluffy gyal/size 12-30 options! One thing I love about my culture is that we don’t discriminate on body type! EVERYBODY LOOKS BEAUTIFUL NO MATTER THE SIZE OR SHAPE! The only thing we are serious/judgemental about is stush/stuck up behavior at a party, we don’t like that! So here a few places that I will be picking up my themed looks!
