Boston, I’m proud of you. We’ve been relatively calm during quarantine, and for that, we get to experience some of the simple joys of our city. Walks in the park. Safe brunches. Visiting our favorite restaurants. Date nights at beaches and more! Summer isn’t cancelled and as we continue to move in this safe direction, I can keep dressing up and enjoying what the city has to offer!
Dressing up with an actual destination feels so different now. I feel like all the maxi dresses I’ve been waiting to break out this summer will actually get some air time! Maxi dresses and sandals are my go-to look. No matter the occasion, there’s no wrong way to wear a nice maxi. I recently went to brunch last week with my girlfriends. While social distancing was in full effect, we were grateful to break bread and wear our summer classics!
Sidewalk brunches in the Seaport really hit the spot for us Bostonians and Lane Bryant has kept me looking great during quarantine, and now; in the new normal. While Lane Bryant boasts many maxi dresses, I instantly fell in love with this polka dot maxi dress. I love polka dot print because it can easily be seen as a solid. Ever since I saw Rochelle and Essie pattern blocking, I figured I’d try it out myself!

While most people see a pretty polka dot dress, I see it as an opportunity to layer prints. This summer, I am going to try layering patterns and prints at least once a week.

If you’d like to tip-toe into print blocking, start off with an accessory. For me, sandals are the easiest way to do it. I first tried pairing the look with Lane Bryant’s Woven Slide Sandals. Side note, these are the most comfortable sandals ever!!

Then, taking staple pieces from my closet helped bring the look to another level. In fact, Lane Bryant has a whole bunch of accessories that could have completed this look with the same amount of pizazz!

If there’s anything I love about a dress, it’s the opportunity for dressing it up and down! For that, I had to score a few more because, why not?!?
So which one are you leaning towards? A pop of print? Or layer upon layers?
