Forget the Fendi, I will take Indie for 2000 Bob!

Happy Day Everyone!

Lol, had to throw in a plug while doing this post on my lunch break :).

From time to time I find myself browsing through different e-commerce sites looking for something that looks original, funky, fresh, and most of all; GREAT QUALITY! As much as I love Forever 21, you can’t find diversity in their selection for plus size women. To make matters worse, all the fun and funky clothing are reserved for sizes 0-10. Go figures! But, the amazing part about being a blogger is finding Indie Designers that cater to all curves!

I want to take some time to highlight a few indie designers that “go hard” for the fuller figure!

I remember when I first saw Rue 107 on Instagram and all I wanted to do was squeeze into one of their bodycons. Today, Rue 107 has an array of garments that fit up to a size 24! From form-fitting clothing to flowwy loose cut, Marie Jean-Baptiste has truly made her mark in my book of elevated designers! Here are a few looks from her latest look book/ Instagram:

Monif C

Monif C was the first indie designer I learned about back in 2009. Slowly but steadily Monif Clarke has risen to being arguably the 1st and best plus size designer to give women more options for clothing that align with straight size options. I own about three dresses, two jumpsuits, one romper, and two bathing suits from Monif C! Time after time again, Monif C always comes out with something new, fresh, and fabulous! Here are some of her latest jaw droppers:

Courtney Noelle (aka the MUMU Killer)

Courtney Noelle has made her mark in the past few years! I love watching her grow every time she releases a new piece or collection. One of my best friends wore one of her dresses to the Ebony Gala and it was definitely a head turner!

Zelie for She

Zelie for She is based out of Los Angeles and has the healthiest mix of fun and vibrant mixed with a bit of minimalist. The brainchild behind the brand, Elann Zelie, describes her designs as ” a fresh sense of street style combined with what’s trending in fashion.” Here are some pieces from the latest collection:

  1. JIBRI

One thing that I love about JIBRI is that she does wonders with custom-made orders. I know people who exclusively shop JIBRI for large-scale events! I can attest to Jasmine Elder’s usage of great quality fabric in all her pieces! Check out JIBRI’s latest collection:

And to round off the list, I can’t forget Rue 114!

Rue 114

Rue 114 is one of the brands that always leaves you in wonder and awe because you never know what is going to come out of Serwah Asante’s book of designs! There are days I can just stare at a mixed Ankara print design and say “I bet Rue 114 could do it better.” Don’t believe? Check out Rue 114’s latest collection:
