SAG Awards 2017 Nominee’s Beauty Challenge

Over the weekend, I finally got around to see the SAG nominated film, Hidden Figures. Not only did I feel empowered as a black woman, but I looked at my all progression as personal and communal wins! Also, I loved seeing Taraji P Henson, who played Katherine Johnson, in a whole other element. She did THAT! In the spirit of the SAG Awards creeping up, a few of my blogger friends and I thought it would be cool to participate in a SAG Awards 2017 Nominee’s Beauty Challenge. Each participant in the beauty challenge will create a look from someone on the nominee list. Since Hidden Figures left me speechless, I chose to recreate the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture – Hidden Figures. More specifically, I wanted Taraji’s look. It was simple, beautiful, and reminds me of something I would wear to work on most days.

Before I get into the products that I used, here’s the final product.

Let’s talk about these brows! Now, most of you know I don’t get my eyebrows done. I grew up with a strict Haitian mother and by the time I was of age to start making decisions for myself (in her eyes of course) my eyebrows pretty much looked beautiful to me…never thought about getting them done. But I’m not going to lie, some days I want to make them look shaped up without the hassle of having to get them threaded or waxed.

Palladio has an amazing brow definer that gives my brows a quick pick me without the having to pluck or tweeze! Also, their products are enriched with Ginseng, Green Tea, Gingko Biloba, Vitamin E and natural humectants and skin soothers such as Aloe Vera and Chamomile.

In combination with the brow definer, I used two products from City Color Cosmetics: Mattifying Balm and Brow Quad. Before I started, I applied the Mattifying Balm as a primer. It goes on glossy and allows for a seemingly poreless finish! The Brow Quad gave more of a natural color for my eyes brows after using Palladio’s Brow Definer.

The next item I used was the Firming DMAE Eye Lift. I naturally have baggy eyes, and they often take away from any eye shadow or lash extensions I apply. Instead of using lots of concealer, I added a little bit of Derma E’s eye lift, and it truly made a difference. After using my Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation (which is one the best full coverage foundations I’ve used), I topped off my look with e.l.f. Cosmetics Velvet Matte Lipstick.

So what do you think? I know I don’t do many makeup hauls, or skin care regiments on the blog, but why not try now?

I totally wanna see the movie. I’ve always loved strong female characters (and real life women in power too of course) and this sounds like a movie for me. Inspired by that you’ve created a gorgeous makeup and a lovely tutorial to go with it! And yes, your eyebrows don’t need any doing sweetie! 🙂
