IG Influencers Who Are Influencing My Goals

In Body Positive, Inspiration

Y’all! It’s been a whole month since I’ve posted on here. I didn’t do much planning for 2018 and I kinda snowballed into it. Usually when I am feeling stuck and lost like this, I look for sources of inspiration to get me right on track. Every year I usually write a post about my goals and how I am going to actualize them for the year. While we all know that I can write for hours, I thought I could try something different. Actually, my mantra for 2018 is ‘Somethin’ Different.’

instead of me writing about how I want to do better as a person, blogger, influencer, and careerist, I thought I would highlight people that I follow on IG, who personify these goals. So for example, if I wanted to become the first Black Mayor of the City of Boston, I would feature Yvonne Spicer, who was recently sworn in as the first African-American Mayor…actually first mayor ever, of Framingham, MA (yup, she is goals).

So in no particular order, here are my blogger/influencer goals for 2018!

Micah Giannelli– Style Goals

Micah’s IG is all things goals. From her daring looks to awesome collaborations, if I can find it in myself to be half as illuminating as Micah, I would feel like 2018 is complete. I’ve been following Micah for about one year, and I never get bored of her posts. The truth is, sometimes I get bored of my own so here’s to letting out the inner Micah in me!

Lisa al Mode- Drive Goals and Connectivity

I met Lisa back in 2016 and watching her journey has been amazing! She is so connected to her audience and is always trying to find ways to connect with them better. With every post, Lisa shares a little piece of herself. As a full-time content creator, I admire her drive and honesty– especially with her audience. She truly makes an earnest effort to be authentically herself, which is something I struggle with every day.

Essie Golden – Drive and Goal Mapping Goals

I remember meeting Essie sometime in 2013 at an Ugly Sweater Party that she co-hosted. Ever since then, I’ve only watched her set the bar higher for herself every time. Landing campaign after campaign and growing her Golden Confidence brand to an over 160k following in one year is GOALS! With successful collection curations with Rebdolls and Fashion to Figure, Essie is a force that can’t be stopped.

Garner Style and CeCe Olisa- Innovation and Continuity Goals

After my second year of attending the Curvy Con, I couldn’t be more proud of Chasity of Garner Style and CeCe Olisa. While the tickets were little over 100.00 for general admission, I felt like I got over $800.00 worth of pointers from the leading experts in the industry, made great connections with brands that were vending, and memories to last lifetime. Meeting the bloggers that I’ve only met online was definitely a highlight. Also, Chasity also said something that resonated with me: “I’ve been blogging for a while now, and I am not going to be blogging forever.” Chasity’s said this was ONE of the founding reasons as to why they created Curvy Con. Not only to put their name on the map but to give back to a community that deserves just as many accolades and flare as the straight size community. Can’t wait to go next year!

The Curvy Fashionista– Paying it Forward and Boss Empire Goals

I’ve been following TCF for as long as I could remember. While she’s always been one of the bloggers with high readership, she always puts on the newer bloggers. In 2016, TCF featured me in her Fashion Blogger Spotlight and to be honest; it’s one of my favorite features to read. I love going to read about the new influencers on the block. Also, TCF doesn’t feel that sharing about other bloggers will diminish her light because she’s always working on her own brand and securing collaborations with amazing brands!

Ady Del Valle- Risk Taker Goals

I met this Boston-based powerhouse at the Curvy Con in 2017. He is just as amazing in person as he is online. Every day, his IG posts and IG stories provide me with a little momentum to keep pushing; no matter what anyone has to say. His posts seem so fearless, and he always lives in his own authentic light! With a few collaborations and fashion shows under his belt, I predict that Ady is gonna go far!

This was my 4th runway show in one year, I still don’t know how I’ve made it this far, but I’m riding this bull to the end. People believe in me and see my purpose and how I’m helping represent, I hope to make the best of each opportunity and not disappoint the people that have my back and are rooting for me, will give my 100% or more always. • • PhotoCred: @xltribe • • Wearing: @mvp_usa • • PS: I know I talk about this a lot but you have no idea how hard and what I’ve gone through to get to this point. Something I’m proud of. • • #BigAndTall #streetfashion #streetstyle #urbanfashion #malemodel #mensfashion #beardgang #beardporn #malefashion #bigmensfashion #bigandtallmodel #gay #gaymen #malestyle #fashion #fatshion #plussizemalemodel #plussizemodel #effyourbeautystandards #brawn #plussizemenswear #plusmenrevolution #brawnsquad #BodyPositivity #WLYG #celebratemysize

OJ of OJ Fit- Go Hard or Go Home Goals

This feature might be biased because he’s my best friend, but OJ is one of the VERY FEW trainers that I’ve seen go above and beyond for his clients. Based out of Boston, MA, OJ recently completed his National Academy of Sports Medicine certification to a CERTIFIED personal trainer. As someone who witnessed his ten months of classes to receive this certification, it’s kinda dope to see the result. He went from asking me to lift weights all the time, to designing an entire program–with a nutrition plan just for me.

Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did. One other thing.. always be open to learn. A person is never too good, too smart, too old to learn something new. If you can gain one new idea or experience, you are better than you were yesterday. With that being said, I came in humble, open minded, and learned some awesome new modalities. _____________________ S/O to @Realworld_tactical _____________________ #ResistanceSprints #Power #Conditioning #FunctionalStrength #Perseverance #Nike #NikeBoston #Relentless #StayHungry #Gainz #OJFit #BeGreat #AboveAverage #FitnessMotivation #FitnessJourney #1stPhorm #GymLife #CrossFit #Fitspiration #Fitfluential #BostonFitness #NYCFitness #ReachingNewLevels

Natalia Lily- Living Your Best Life Goals

I met Natalia Lily about two years ago when we co-hosted an event at the Fashion to Figure in Brooklyn. Admittedly, I didn’t know half of the people there because I didn’t go to many plus size events. Today, I feel like I’ve known Natalia forever! With every post, she’s unapologetic. She’s not looking to see who cares; she’s just her. Whether she’s traveling abroad or in a sexy, sleek number at Art Basel, Natalia is LIVING HER BEST LIFE! I need ALLLA DAT in my life!! And don’t sleep, even though she’s living her best life, she is GRINDING! I see you boo!

Marche Robinson – I Can Live My Best Life and Be Corporate Attorney Too,  Goals

I’ve officially been following Marche of Robinson Style for a year. While this boss babe is often seen at some of the hottest hotels, hottest vacation spots, and in the hottest outfits, don’t let her fool you, she’s a corporate attorney. Right now, I am trying to strike a balance between work and play. For some reason, it’s always been ‘go hard or go home,’ ONE PASSION AT A TIME! When I look at Marche’s life, she makes it seem so effortless. I definitely want to start planning my life better because while I work in a legal capacity as well, I am always afraid what my boss will say about “the real me.” But I see you, Marche!!

Chante of Everything Curvy and Chic – Business Goals

While Chante has been building her brand as an influencer for years, she’s recently stepped into the world of brick and mortar business ownership. The reason why I had to specify that it’s a brick and mortar business is that it’s Florida’s 1st Specialty Plus Size Clothing Boutique. One Curvy Boutique , located in Ocala Florida, isn’t like your everyday boutique. Not only do they offer fabulous plus size clothing from around the world but they also provide “Personal Styling” and a top of the line “Get Ready With Us” service. While Chante is still very active on the social media front, she’s running a successful business that caters to plus size women in Florida!

Thorton Paul – Drive and Go-Getter Goals

Thorton Paul is a Boston based athlete, model, influencer, AND NOW AUTHOR!!!! I am so proud of this guy because his hustle never sleeps. After being featured as Essence Magazine’s Man Crush, Thorton has been moving harder than ever! With his booked slated to release in February 2018, I can’t wait to see what else Thorton comes us with.

Miss Posh- Fitness and Style Goals

I know y’all have to see Miss Posh on this innanets! Not only does bring life to my IG Feed but her fitness journey was nothing short of amazing! If there’s anything that I wanna to tackle this year, it’s my fitness and health. This running on E business is not cool…and neither is sizing out of Forever 21 :(.

Nyviana Skye – Life Goals

Nini has a heart pure as gold! As a mother, model, artist, and supportive friend, she pushes the envelope for herself and her family and friends every day. Even after working a double triple, she still finds time to hone in on her craft, help her children actualize their dreams, and surprisingly finds time to travel as well. I’ve talked to a few of my friends and told them about my family planning goals. If I can be just a fraction as organized and determined as Nini, I think I will do ALLLLRIGHT!

KurvyKatie – Life Goals

Like Nini, Katie also has a strong dedication to her craft, her daughter, and to her country! But don’t get it twisted, she’s always down for a good time and will have you laughing until your insides hurt! In a matter of 6 months, Katie has transformed her brand into a more interactive guide of the budget conscious millennial! Over time, I want to be able to develop that much dedication to staying on course.

Voyaj Kreyol- Travel Goals

My Haitian sisters have travel on lock!! Combined Stephanie Voltaire and Vannie Paradis have traveled to 20 countries, 15 US states, 38 plus cities, and counting. Now, I already have three significant trips outlined for this year…but if I can travel like Stephanie and Vannie are traveling, I will be golden! I am really going to look into their tips on how to travel on a budget and collect points as I go along.

We are LIVE!! Go check the blog out! #VoyajKreyol

Chardline and Orville Joseph for Rockland Trust

Relationships that Matter

In Fitness & Health, Inspiration, Uncategorized

This post is sponsored by Rockland Trust. But as always, my opinions are 1000% my own.

Chardline and Orville Joseph for Rockland Trust

As a part two to last week’s posts, I thought it would be fitting for me to open up about how much I value the relationships in my life. As humans, we form lots of relationships. Whether it is with school teachers, gym trainers, financial advisors, family, friends, etc., we place value in all of these relationships because we understand the trust and loyalty that binds us. One relationship that I love to brag about is with my trainer turned best friend, OJ.

OJ epitomizes the definition of a best friend. I do not know a single person who is more present in my life than he is…well after my mom of course. When I first started blogging, he supported my entrepreneurial endeavors. Even if he was the only man submerged in a sea of ladies at my events, he never complained. He merely observed and smiled. Apart from being physically being present in my life, he’s always been the perfect person to mentally balance me out. While I tend to be a paranoid or anxious person, he’s always there to remind me to calm down. And on the flip side, when I complained to him that I couldn’t climb to the top of a mountain, he was right there pushing me along the way…and this isn’t a figure of speech either. He actually helped me climb to the top of two mountains.

Our relationship isn’t complicated or knows many boundaries. I don’t think there’s anything I have a hard time telling him. Our trust and candid talks is what binds us closer. When others started to notice that I gained 100 pounds, they quietly said, “Chardline, you are getting bigger.” But when OJ noticed he said, “Alright when I’ve completed personal training school, I am going to design you a program to help you with your fitness goals…” He never attacks me or makes me feel like I am doing something wrong…unless it’s a roast session. That boy can roast!  Instead, he picks up on certain patterns and behaviors and asks how I am doing.

I can go on and on about my relationship with OJ, but the truth is I am choking up over here. And OJ knows this. I always let him know when I appreciate his friendship. Whether it’s a simple “I love you” or saving him food, we celebrate our relationship in awesome ways! We’ve already traveled from coast to coast; I wonder where life will take us now.

Both OJ and I were discussing how it’s time “grown-up moves” in our lives. While we have our sights on starting our own families and buying homes, we recognized the importance of building relationships with people and institutions that will help us actualize these goals. Being Massachusetts natives, we started looking into Rockland Trust. When I learned about a bank that focuses its mantra on building meaningful relationships with their customers, it didn’t take much for me to want to learn more. Rockland Trust is a bank that offers a wide of banking, investment, and insurance services to people like me.

I never thought I would experience the day where I can compare one of my most meaningful relationships in my life to a bank that can help me actualize my short-term and long-term goals. I value the relationships in my life and I am happy to know that Rockland Trust does the same for its consumers. I’ve banked with other institutions but I’ve never experienced a bank that is committed to helping me be a better Chardline, just like OJ is.

Interested in learning about Rockland Trust? Head to Rockland Trust’s website, where you can learn more about their services and even the philanthropic work they do. Also, follow their Instagram and Facebook for interactive posts and updates.

Give OJ a big hug for me if you see him in the streets!

Til next time,

Initially, I wanted to entitle this post: 29 things I learned last year. But to be honest, it wasn’t in my heart. This past weekend, I had the privilege of spending my birthday with my closest friends and family. I don’t think ANYONE knows me better than this bunch of people. Well, except my mom.

My brother and sister know me the best. For the most part, they see me through and through. They peep my evolution from time to time, but at my core, they know what I am thinking.

Nyviana is like my sister…she’s is my sister. I met her through my friend Tremana, and I don’t regret it not one bit. We travel together, cry together, and everything in between. When I say something “CRAZY,” she gets me more than anyone…she actually laughs and gives me an HI 5. There’s something so comforting about those hi-5’s. We come from two different walks of life, but when our paths crossed, it was like we knew each other forever.

Durand I’ve known the longest in this crew. We met each other during our freshman year of college. At first, he was timid, but I knew there was more to Durand to that. He is VERY observant, tactical, and practical. He makes the best predictions about. In fact, CHARDLINE.COM wouldn’t exist without him. Durand saw something in me, purchased the domain and website, and I ran with it. I honor our friendship like it’s my baby. I think I should listen to him more; he seems to know what’s up!

Tasha, I met less than four years ago. She’s a rock. She super fierce, confident, always down for the cause, her smile is infectious, and she’s HELLA smart!! Like MAAAAD SMART! She’s one of the most driven women I know and doesn’t take no for an answer! I love her to death because she isn’t one of those friends who require all the attention in the world…she just needs a person to be present at the moment! This weekend was a weekend of firsts for her!!

Lastly, OJ. If you follow my Instagram Stories of Snapchat, OJ is my best friend. I’ve known him since 2012, and he started off as my trainer. Over the years, we’ve bonded…mostly over food…I think we eat more than we speak. And recently, we’ve started traveling together. So far we’ve been to Philly, NY, LA, Toronto, and ATL together. I always feel like there’s more to us than food, but food is always a good start when it comes to OJ. Fun fact, he’s the only man that has said “I LOVE YOU” to me and I actually believe it. It only took 29 years, huh?

During this trip, I don’t know if they noticed, but I did ask a few questions to them. I posed the questions at random times so it wouldn’t sound too interrogatory. I am not sure if they actually read my blog, but if you ever do, I want to say thank you because you revealed some things about myself that I’m always afraid to explore. Character traits that I often ignore.

The first question I asked, “What was your fondest childhood memory?” While my friends said things like staying at my grandmother’s house or riding a bike, I remember not having many childhood memories. I remember my sister drowning in the pool at Canobie Lake; I remember having a cousin that didn’t act like a cousin…sorta creepy….I remember being called a whale while I was sleeping…and then variations of “fat” thereon. My positive memories seemed to have diminished and I all I could remember were times where I was hurt or scared.  But my friend’s memories taught me that it wasn’t too late to make new and fun ones now. The past already happened and I can’t control that. But this past weekend, I made some great memories. I only want to keep making them from here on out.

The second question I asked…OJ in particular because he knows me the best: what do you think my ego is? My brother just finished explaining what his definition of ego was. He said that an ego is what you project out to the world, but it’s not necessarily the reality you’re living. At first, OJ was reticent to answering the question…he was trying to vibe out. But after that, he said, “You portray an aura of being confident when in reality you are your harshest critic.” God must have blessed his tongue because this is something I realized about myself, I just didn’t know that someone else could see it, too. So what happens now? I live unapologetically. I have to figure out why I critique myself the way I do. Am I fair to myself? Am I practicing what I preach? Am I doing this for the show? Something to consider.

This post is almost 1000 words long, so I won’t bore you but just know part two is coming lol. It always does! But I won’t leave without sharing some good news! Before the new year takes off, I want to introduce three new parts coming to the blog:

  • #BostonProper – This is when I will dish on all things Boston. Boston influencer events, eats, events, brunches, staycations, gyms, spa, hair, YOU NAME IT! This is my city! I work, live, eat, breathe and sleep all things Boston (and Haiti). I can’t wait for you to experience Boston through my lens! After my feature on Chronicle 5, I’ve been invited to so many Boston based storefronts, events, spas etc! I have to share my city with you!
  • Dear Diary: While I speak my thoughts on my posts all the time, I think it’s time I keep those feelings in one space for you all to take a look at. Before blogging, I was a writer. I could write about anything and anyone. I’m hoping that this diary section of the blog will help you see me in a light that is more TRUE to my nature. I am working on Chardline the Blogger and Chardline, the Woman, being one. I can’t wait to hear your feedback on me…being me :).
  • Monthly Lookbook– Once a month, I am hoping to collaborate with one brand to show you themed looks for the month. Before the end of this month, you will see a lookbook from Debs Shops! Today’s look was gifted by Debs Shops so make sure you get it while it’s still here.

A huge thank you to Debs Shop for the look, and an even huger thank you to Distorted Concepts for the shots! He’s EFFIN AMAZING!

Breast Cancer Awareness with Catherines’ Plus Size

In Fitness & Health, Inspiration

Since the inception of the blog, I would end October with a breast cancer awareness post. When I was 16 years old, I lost one of my aunts to breast cancer. The following year, I lost a close mentor to breast cancer. For as long as I could remember, my life has been surrounded by victors and angels who’ve battled breast cancer. And for my family, it especially hits close to home. Instead of educating each other about the BRCA gene, we avoided the subject altogether. With each person we have lost due to breast cancer, we grew more silent and, at times, isolated from each other. This is why every year I am committed to writing a post about breast cancer awareness! Today, I wanted to shed light on a brand that is dedicated to breast cancer awareness and finding a cure!

Catherines’ Plus Size, a clothing brand that caters to women sizes 16W-34W and 0X-5X, has partnered with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Throughout the entire month of October, Catherines will offer a limited-edition eight-piece BCRF capsule collection including activewear, sleepwear, fashion styles and a pink ribbon pin. 10% of all proceeds from this collection will be donated to BCRF. Along with the capsule collection, customers can contribute to the BCRF with our “register round-up” campaign. Customers making in-store purchases can be rounded up to the nearest dollar or amount of their choice, with the difference going to BCRF. Catherines is also introducing a coupon book, valid during the month of November, in return for a $5 donation.

And while my friends and family could not making it to a breast cancer walk due to familial hospitalizations, we still find ways to give back! I wanted to partner with my aunt who is a survivor of breast cancer, but life often has a way telling us to heal first. Even though we only have a few more days left in October, Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Catherines’ Plus Size work every day to give back to and look for the cure for breast cancer!

Check out their options; I am wearing the Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon Tee!

Love you all,

International Day of the Girl Child

In Body Positive, Inspiration, Lifestyle

According to Unicef,  since 2012, 11 October has been marked as the International Day of the Girl. The day aims to highlight and address the needs and challenges girls face, while promoting girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights.

I am not one to cast a shadow on challenges of others…if you believe you are going through a problem, you, my friend are going through it. When people would say “I wish I were rich, I wouldn’t be going through this problem,” I often argue that wealthy people have a whole other set of issues that money can’t resolve. Unfortunately, as women in a 90% patriarchal world, we collectively go through a lot of the same issues.

Unequal pay, telling women they are playing “victim” when they go through rape, national leaders telling us what to do with our sexual organs (even condoning mutilation), fat shaming, barring access to education and driving, and the list goes on an on. And as much as I wish we were living through lines of Tupac’s “Dear Mama” song, we’re not.

I don’t advocate to be a feminist, but I do advocate for our human rights! I believe that we deserve to treat each other with the utmost understanding and respect. And even if it’s too late to do it now, we gotta start with youth…we shouldn’t have to condition young girls and women into believing that this is all society has to offer them. At the bare minimum, OUR HUMAN RIGHTS!

Adolescent girls have the right to a safe, educated, and healthy life, not only during these critical formative years, but also as they mature into women. If efficiently supported during the adolescent years, girls have the potential to change the world – both as the empowered girls of today and as tomorrow’s workers, mothers, entrepreneurs, mentors, household heads, and political leaders. An investment in realizing the power of adolescent girls upholds their rights today and promises a more equitable and prosperous future, one in which half of humanity is an equal partner in solving the problems of climate change, political conflict, economic growth, disease prevention, and global sustainability. – Unicef.

So please, if you see a little girl today–even if it’s for three seconds, let them know they are appreciated and that they can put anything they set their mind to! When I was younger, images of women running shit were far and few. I wish I could have told myself that the buck doesn’t stop with what “they” tell you to do…keep pushing sis.
