Fat Girls Can’t Wear Maxi Dresses

In Personal Style

Last summer, all I saw were memes that discouraged plus size women from wearing maxi dresses or sundresses. None of them held water in my book. Maxi dresses are one of the most liberating things to wear. There is something about a maxi dress that makes me feel secure and beautiful. Maybe it’s because they are super stretchy–so breathing isn’t an issue. Maybe it’s because they are long–so attempting to cross my legs the whole day is out of the question. Or maybe my ass looks awesome in it. YEAAA, I’m pretty sure it’s the latter, but nonetheless I’m wearing at least one maxi dress every week.

Maxi dresses are so universal! My grandmother, my mother, my sister, and I all wear them to family BBQ’s. They always ask us if we coordinated it but in reality, we just like the way they make us look.  If you are interested in easing  into the Sisterhood of Maxi Dresses, Fashion to Figure should be your first stop! They have all types of maxi dresses. From super casual to midnight boat right, you can find whatever it is that you need. At the store in Kings Plaza, Brooklyn, I found this beautiful maxi dress that I couldn’t leave the store without. It’s called the Samba Off Shoulder Maxi Dress.

This dress hugs my curves in all the right places and leaves plenty of room to breathe. Sounds like magic huh? Well, wait until you why I call it magic!! There’s only left online, but when I came back to Boston’s Fashion to Figure location, they were full stocked! Don’t be afraid to call you local Fashion to Figure because you never know what they have in store! But if the Samba dress is too much for you, they have plenty of other options such as Buena Vista Knotted Dress. There are definitely levels to this maxi life! It’s all about find one that is comfortable and fits your personality. Without further adieu, here is my Samba Off Shoulder Maxi Dress look!

That Time I Wore My Fupa Out

In Body Positive, Personal Style

Happy Monday!

I’ve probably referenced my commitment to wearing more outgoing clothing at least 10 times this year. Some days I want to let it all out, other days I reach for my cinched waist skater dress. I am starting to accept the notion of balance. Understanding that whatever you choose to wear doesn’t define how beautiful you are, if you are the “right type” of curvy, or if you should be allowed to wear a certain type of style. Just wear what makes you feel comfortable–and if the critics have something to say, let them marvel at your beauty.

Anywho, today I took a big step out of my comfort zone and wore a crop and a fitted maxi skirt. Yea, it wasn’t always my cup of tea, but when I wore it I felt sort’ve liberated. I always taught to cover my FUPA and wear things that flatter my shape. While it’s true that some cuts and patterns look nicer on me than others, I didn’t want constrict myself because of a VBO . Reminiscing on the days I weighed 240 lbs and had more of an hourglass shape, pencil skirts and crop tops were my thing.

Fast forward to 2o16, I am 325 lbs and I’m shaped more like a rectangular, apple, pear–heck I am shaped like a fruit basket and I wouldn’t wear anything that didn’t draw attention to my stomach…until today. I never thought I would say this, but it actually takes courage for me to post these. Not because I don’t like the way they look, but because society will have memes from here to Zamunda …but that’s okay. Because nothing can take away the feeling I had when I put on my fitted skirt and my booty was popping! A huge thank you to Pink Clubwear for letting a sister feel sexy on a Saturday!

Now that the weather is seemingly cooperating with us, it’s time to bust out all the accessories that complete some of the most coveted summer looks! In the Winter, scarves, Equestrian boots, and bedazzled earmuffs were all the rave! Now that Summer is only a couple of weeks away–we have to break out the big guns! From arm candy-to tending heels, here are Plus Size Beausion’s Top 5 accessories you will need to complete your summer looks!

Chokers– Remember when you these were all the rave? I always had a double chin, so they were pointless for me. But hello 2016 because chokers are thicker and looser.  Nowadays, you typically see them on attached to clothing/lingerie but this choker from Fashion to Figure is EVERYTHING!!

Vest it or Nah?

In Personal Style

Happy Monday! Well it seems like the days of trying to accommodate for these coldish hotish days are diminishing. Oh wait, I lied. I woke up and it was 60 degrees out. Nonetheless, I still have outfits prepared for these wishy washy days. It’s been a while since I featured some plaid on the blog so I wanted to break out my favorite plaid item from my closet!

This top from Pink Clubwear is my favorite because although it looks like a structured cotton top, it’s full of spandex! It’s a very breathable material–every person with rolls dream. Similar to jeggings, Pink Clubwear’s Plaid Button Down Top gives a great illusion of being a plaid collared shirt. This is perfect for layering too. I paired this with my vest from Pop Up Plus Ny, just in case it decided to get chilly. With my denim jeans from Society + and some heels, it makes for a nice day to night outfit. What do you think? With or Without the vest?
