Fringing Forward

In Personal Style

Happy Monday All!

With Mother Nature acting “brand new“, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to display my passion for fashion in the mall. Some days, I would rather head to the mall in sweats and sneakers. And other days, I would take everything out my closet and wear it all at once (I love to shop but nowhere to go). So Sunday was one of those days. I know in pasts posts, I talked about wearing more accessories…and this post truly highlights my favorite places to not only get affordable dress clothes, but where to get great accessories!

Post One

Pink Clubwear has some of the best fast-fashion selections around. One thing I really like about them is their ability to restock items in a week’s turnaround. Many times I’m looking for items that haven’t tried before and with Pink Clubwear, I don’t mind taking that risk.

Post Two

Remember when I posted about the fringe trend? Well, a few months later I finally got around to experimenting with some fringe of my own! I love this Suede Fringe Trimmed Peplum Top! It’s nice and snug and gives you a snatched look around the waist! You don’t even need to wear shapewear to achieve the look. I was thinking of different ways I could style this top because I know I wasn’t to wear it a few more times before mother nature decides to turn up the heat. Also, before I got in on a close up of my jewels, take a look at these amazing statement earrings from Fly Girl Couture. The Galactica earrings are my favorite pair! They are handmade and I guarantee, you won’t find them anywhere else!

Post Three

Of course you know I had to highlight my accessories! I got all of my accessories from Fly Girl Couture. My ring finger is a size nine (FYI future lover- I hope you’re taking notes) and finding mixed midi ring sets to fit my fingers is a hassle! Also, the Little Black Box clutch/purse was the perfect addition to the outfit.

I think I’m really getting into this whole accessories thing!

50 Shades of Grey: The Brooklyn Edition

In Plus Size Fashion

Plus Size Beausion  is one of my favorite blogs. Plus Size Beausion breaks the monotony found in many blogs. Plus Size Beausion provides a different perspective on plus size life. So, when I was asked to be a male contributor to one of my favorite blogs, I jumped at the opportunity. But of course, you can find more looks, discussions, and links to sales at my blog: The Gentlemen’s Curb.

I am a heavy man, I am 316 lbs. So, I can definitely identify with men and women larger sizes becoming confident and loving themselves. Not to mention a lot of brands don’t cater to us, so finding the right clothes can be a chore at times. But, guess what? We pulled something together just for you!

 K1

One of my favorite brands is Kenneth Cole. It’s easy to find clothes that compliment men of  different sizes. Instead of the hassle of trying to stretch into an H&M tee or pop the buttons at Forever 21, Kenneth Cole is always guaranteed the one stop shop.

k3

Unlike many stores, Kenneth Cole carries a bulk of their Big and Tall clothing in stores as well. When I was thinking of what my first contributor post would look like, I wanted to play along with the weather. It was grey out and I own about 50 shades of grey so I put together a look that was comfortable and classic.

K2

I know ….I know, let’s address the elephant in the room: My forehead takes up 90% of the picture, but that’s one of the luxuries that comes with being part of the #foreheadgang. Being able to relax in my clothes is really big for me. A lot of formal looks restrict mobility at times, but I feel like part of the design of this jacket, from Kenneth Cole, is to give mobility in the back. I wish I took a picture of the inside of this jacket but it’s fitted in certain places, but has ample room around the arms. And my sweater from Old Navy made it even easier to move around. Old Navy is another great place, but I will save that for another post.

Plus Size Over the Knee Boots

Started wearing less and goin’ out more

In Personal Style

Happy Fatties Love Tuesday!

Drake really set the tone for me this year. In his hit single, “Hotline Bling” he says a statement that seemed to resonate with me:

Cause ever since I left the city,
you started wearing less and goin’ out more
Glasses of champagne out on the dance floor
Hangin’ with some girls I’ve never seen before

This is pretty much how I want my 2016 to look like. Not so much as LESS IS MORE but just DOING MORE. So this look is completely inspired by Drake’s Hotline Bling. In the past, most of my looks featured pants, midi body cons, pumps, over sized…blah blah blah. This time around, I took a stroll around Boston and..well “Started wearing less and goin’ out more! This is actually the next theme on my vision board: GO BOLD OR GO HOME.

Post 2

This look was has to be one of the more daring looks I’ve done. Typically I push the limit with colors. But, this time, I am pushing my envelope with cuts!

...and apparently this year I thought I could get bold with new poses lol (FAIL)

…and apparently this year I thought I could get bold with new poses lol (FAIL)

When I was trying to think of ways that I could be bold but still maintain some of my “classic Chardline-isms“, Forever 21 was the first place that popped into my mind. Forever 21 is known for having all types of styles. I even catch my mom trying on their blouses from time to time.

Post 3

I’m really fond of this vest! Although it’s currently sold out, they still have it available in black! I love the black one because you can wear it with almost anything!

And like I’ve said in past posts, this year I will be focusing on wearing more accessories. One of my favorite places to get accessories is Fly Girl Couture! I know they are also known for making the best tutus,  but their accessories are also one of a kind! AND!! AND!! AND!!! What do you know!?!? I found a place that fits all 21 inches of love around my calves! Lane Bryant had these boots on sale! Got them for $50.00!! They are now the most comfortable pair of heels that I own!

So make sure you come back next time as I feature another look! I hope this look is more daring than the last (probably won’t be though lol). Plus I can’t let Drake down, after all, he loves his women BBW!

#Make Your Move feat. Kohls

In Fitness & Health, Personal Style

In past posts, you may have seen my weight loss journey and some of the key components to losing weight. When Kohl’s emailed me about collaborating on a post, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to talk about plus size activewear.

One component that’s very important to me is to dress up and show out. It’s very important to look as good as I feel. It’s like a spirit booster. Unfortunately many brands carry lots of cute activewear but they aren’t functional for plus size women. Many times I will try on a pair of leggings and after three walk throughs, they are falling off.

Kohl’s carries activewear brands that are not only functional (breathable fabric, formidable seams, and reinforced elasticity) but suits my inner fashionista. Kohl’s has a vast selection of activewear for all sizes. One of the brands I’m most fond of is Tek Gear.

Tek Gear offers sturdy yet breathable activewear that truly conforms to your shape.  I used to be the girl who thought leggings and an over-sized tee would do the trick. But, Tek Gear carries options for all comfort levels. It’s a new year, so why not try out some new activewear?

Jacket, Shirt, and Leggings: Tek Gear Sneakers: Fila *This post is sponsored by Kohl’s, all opinions are my own.*

I love that Kohl’s activewear is carried online and in-store.  No longer do you have to look online to get activewear, but you will find a wide variety of active wear in stores too. I found all of these at my local Kohl’s.

Post Three

I truly tested the durability and flexibility of Tek Gear’s Workout Leggings. With every high knee I completed, I would constantly check to see if my leggings were sliding off. They didn’t even flinch!  It’s very obvious that Tek Gear’s design was very performance-focused. Also, there is a definite improvement in the feel and fit from my usual, cheaper (quality) choices.

Jacket, Shirt, Leggings: Tek Gear                 Sneakers: FILA

Lastly,  I’ve been on the hunt to find a pair of sneakers that were not only chic, but had a high level of comfort. The FILA Octave Energized Women’s Cross-Training Sneakers are made with a memory foam cushion and have great support. For once, my feet weren’t sore after 20 minutes of running. I know many of my friends tell me that some of the “go-to” brands hurt their arches or lack thereof, but these FILA sneakers were definitely a GO for me.

Also, here’s a major a steal: If you shop Kohl’s plus department between 1/14-1/24, you get $10 off a $30 purchase of Women’s Plus apparel using promo code MYSTYLE10 online or get your in-store coupon at Kohls.com.

I’ve got the Blues feat. Fashion to Figure

In Personal Style

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

As of late, the cold weather has really got me feeling all sorts of BLUE. But instead of lamenting in my blues, I decided to brave the winter blues and shoot for some excitement in my life. As a blogger, natural lighting is everything so when I get a chance to shoot outside, I take it!

Fashion to Figure  has a wide variety of clothing that can serve as a pick me up. From dresses to jumpers, you’ll find everything you need at this one-stop shop!

Today on the blog, I wanted to feature one of their fastest selling products.

Picture Five

This jumpsuit is such a head turner, as are all of their jumpsuits! I really like the breathable fabric. Too many times I will find a very structured jumpsuit and I feel like I can’t breathe in it. Or sometimes they make me look too boxy.

Picture Four

Also, the jumpsuit isn’t too busy, therefore it allows me to play around with accessories. For 2016, I did commit to wear more accessories.  Some say I over did it with this one, but I DON’T CARE ha! I went years without wearing accessories, so I am making up for lost time.

Picture One

To complete the look, I got my jewels from Fly Girl Couture! They always have cute accessories that range from bold and daring to fancy and forward.

Picture Two

I would encourage everyone to take a look at their jumpsuits because they truly are some of the best fitting jumpsuits you’ll find.

So what do you I say to the winter blues? Bring it on! Instead of thinking it’s too cold to shoot outside, just laugh it off and look cute!
