Get the Look: Rihanna Edition

In Fashion, Plus Size Fashion, Uncategorized

Being a plus size girl in a straight sized world is HARD, but somebody has got to do it.

Every month I will be featuring one of my favorite fashion icons and I will be offering insight as to where you can get their amazing looks.

My first celebrity fashion icon is Rihanna Fenty. She has such an edgy sense of style that 7 times out of 10, only she can wear.

Rihanna started her own line called Rihanna For River land . A lot of her pieces seem unique to women with her frame, BUT DON’T LET THAT STOP YOU FROM TRYING IT!

Her stylist, Mel Ottenburg, describes Rihanna as: ‘Very inspiring!  She’s very comfortable in her own skin. What she wears is about who she is – even her stage costumes. It’s never pre-meditated.’

I thought it would be nice to explore this past look that Rihanna sported in 2009 by Derek Lam.

I chose this look because two trends that were seen on the runways for Fall 2013 were SNOW WHITE and LEOPARD PRINT!

Let’s start off with the all white pant suit.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jessica London because of their vast pant suit collection. They run up to size 32 and always have different cuts that suit many different shapes.

Here is their Double Breasted Pantsuit:

Although the lapels are very different, Jessica London still has it covered:

Jessica London carries a similar all white blazer as well.

If you’d like the pants to be more on the high waist-ed side, then I would size up, but be careful because it your waist is smaller than your your bottom, it maybe a bit big.

Next, the leopard blouse. It was pretty hard to find the same type of blouse, but I could imagine as the Fall approaches more leopard tops will be available.

Lastly, the shoe game.

Rihanna is wearing Christian Louboutin, but for those who don’t want to go that high:

‘Abriana’ Pump (Special Purchase) (Nordstrom Exclusive)

One of my favorite bloggers who always takes the cake for reciprocating the best celebrity looks is Chastity of Garner Style.

If you really want to get the look that straight size celebrities wear, she will tell you all the ins and outs!

Stay tuned for the next celebrity: Beyonce.

Colors and Some More…

In Fashion, Plus Size Fashion, Uncategorized

Oh Happy Day!

This past week has been quite the colorful one.

One of my great friends Tremana White had a viewing party for her participation in CW’S The Capture.

Tremana has to be one of thee most fashion forward friends so I knew I wanted to look fabulous but calm, cool and collective.

I can’t get enough of color blocking and this time I really wanted to challenge myself by pairing colors that I’ve yet see come together in one ensemble.

Here’s the outfit breakdown:

Although the shoes were pretty uncomfortable, after 3 days of breaking them in I was able to wear them without an issue.

Here is me and Tre with out red carpet smiles :).

Then, my cousin’s DIRTY THIRTY ensued! She wanted us to wear shades of blue (well Caribbean blue).

No one really knew what that was but we all had a fun time trying to figure out WHAT Caribbean blue was.

Here’s the outfit breakdown:

Here is me and my sister trying to figure out WHICH BLUE IS THE BEST BLUE!

Hope you enjoyed :).

H&M online!?!?!?!

In Fashion, Plus Size Fashion

Yes, you heard it correctly. H&M is now opening it’s store to the world wide web.

The one critique I have about H&M is that their in-store collection is so much better. They a lot more variety and even leave a lot of last season’s pieces in store.

Hopefully they are taking feedback because I would love it they could expand their collection. Forever 21 for example has a online collection that is a lot more robust than in-store.

Here are some of their products:

H1 h2 h3 h4 H5

When buying clothing from here I usually have be very careful with the sizing.

Therefore, I size down on the tops, and size up on the bottoms. It all depends on your body shape!

Happy Shopping :).

Fall Trends 2013

Fall is right around the corner, with that being said: WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?

With some help from NyMag and Glamour Magazine here are some of my favorite trends for this season!

First off we have the Militaristic look. This may just be my favorite because it gives me and “independent woman” vibe. (That or maybe I’ve been listening to way too much Beyonce)

Here are my top 3 Militaristic designers:

One of my favorite Plus designers that launched a Military Glam campaign is Ashley Stewart.

Here are few more pieces from the Military Glam collection.

Asos also has a few pieces for this trend as well!

Here are a few other pieces that look well with the military trend as well:

Lastly, Forever 21 is usually a “Catch-all” for fast fashion.

Here are a few additional pieces:

Next trend I want to explore is SCARY OVER THE KNEE BOOT!

Having wide calves makes it really really hard to wear boots, let alone OVER THE KNEE boots. But have no fear, here are few carriers that have some Over-the-Knee styles that are wide-calved.

DSW has a nice pair that is on sale:

Ebay has a variety of different ones:

Shoebuy has two boots.

Towards the Fall, I know a lot more stores such as:

Lane Bryant

will have a lot more options. By the end of August hopefully I will be able to post a “part . 2” to get a larger selection.

My favorite prints are back!! I love leopard, tiger, liger, deerbra, etc 🙂

But not just any kinda cat, THE BIG CATS! Wider prints of leopard and zebra.

Simply Be has a few prints worth taking a look at:

Here are few more items they have in stock:
