Gala with the Girls

In Fashion, Plus Size Fashion

IMG_0854

This weekend was the 4th annual gala for my grandfather’s lodge. Every year he always asks me to bring at least one person.

I used to always have a date up until this year (whomp), but who else better than your girls?

Me and My Little Sister

Me and My Little Sister

I brought out all of my curvy ladies tonight and they had a blast! Maybe a little too much fun with the camera too!

So what did I wear??? This jumpsuit was an amazing gift from Monif C!

I recently won it in a contest that The Curvy Fashionista conducted in celebration of her 5th year anniversary!

It was a great fit as well! I would have probably sized down BUT it was fitting given the formality of the occasion.

Tartan and Tings

In Fashion, Plus Size Fashion

tartan

Wake up!

It looks like Tartan is making it’s debut in these cold (or warm if you’re in New England) winters.

With bloggers left and right sporting their Tartan looks, I thought it was only fitting if I could share the wealth!! I just wanted to clear up what Tartan was –> Tartan is often called plaid in North America, but in Scotland, a plaid is a tartan cloth slung over the shoulder as a kilt accessory, or a plain ordinary blanket such as one would have on a bed.

I would first like to start off with Forever 21! They’ve been making Tartan (plaid) looks ever since their inception.

They have lot’s of flannels and leggings included in their Tartan pieces.

tarrr

and leggings as well:

Nadia Aboulhosn wore some nice plaid pants from Forever 21 in her post entitled: I woke up like this. Flawless. I really love how she paired her pieces. Very plain but bold. It’s crazy how both can exist in one piece.

Second place I want to make a quick it stop at is Pink Clove. I’ve seen a few bloggers talk about Pink Clove because of their trendiness and of course price :).

Capture

One blogger that I thought really brought Tartan to life was Chante of Everything Chic and Curvy! In her post One Dress 3 Ways, she showed how she was able to pair Tartan in different ways!

Next store I would like to shine some light on is Target. Although their plaid plus size collection is small, there is one piece that looks so great for a casual date!

Capture

The one piece that I would love to add to my collection would have to be the blazer! Although it seems very plain, it still can serve as a statement piece! Alissa Wilson did a great job in pairing this blazer with red pumps in her post entitled: Mad for Plaid.

Holidays…New Years…Birthdays and MORE!

In Fashion, Plus Size Fashion, Uncategorized

Capture

It’s that time of the year where EVERY OUTFIT HAS TO BE PERFECT.

It’s especially tough having a birthday around the holiday because you have to compete with both Christmas and New Years Day around the same time.

I looked up some great options to consider. Check them out!

My first place I always go to is Asos!

Why do I love ASOS??? First and foremost, their prices. Secondly, their selection is so vast!

Here are a few of my favorites:

asos

If I had to pick from ANY of the dress from Asos, my Holiday pick would be this one fine thang:

image1xl

It gives me such a holiday feel and not having to show my legs is a plus! It’s cold outside!

I think I am obsessed with Gold and Black. Everything Gold and Black I can’t seem to knock!

Capture

Next place I would like to look at is a fairly new designer on the scene. Z by Zevarra has amazing trendy pieces for your holiday needs!

Presentation1

A lot of the pieces should come with warnings BUT I would take the risk given the proper shape wear and event!

I really love this piece matched with the turban. It shows just the right amount of skin!

Capture

I thought to play around with the silver that already in the turban and I would rock it out like this:

Monif C has a some great marked down items this season that I really do love.

I went to Monif C’s headquarters for the first time during her sample sale, and I MUST SAY, everything ran true to size and great quality!

MONIF c

My favorite dress for the holidays was “Leila” Lace Insert Ponte Dress – Red.

leilaredbig

I really love this dress and HINT HINT, you’ll more than likely see me posting about it soon. This dress is the perfect “risky dress.” It has a perfect mix of racy and classy.

The lace inserts really help to give it the illusion of revealing some skin and it really is form fitting.

Since the dress already has a lot of detail, it would be great to pair it with some pumps!

dressss

A little bit of black and gold never hurt anybody!

Another store I seem to forget from time to time is City Chic!

They have such great variety when it comes to clothes. In the past, I bought a jacket from there as well as two dresses. If you are into velour pants, they have an amazing pair!

Here are few dresses that might tickle your fancy.

city chic

As you can see, I love my dark colors! I am also a big fan of skater dresses/peplum so I love that City Chic has more than enough!

Here was my favorite New Years look:

77904_black_3_320_530

It’s pretty similar to the one that Asos has as well.

I would to pair this dress with red shoes and I am not sure why lol. But why not?

Lastly, Fashion To Figure is a great option for those who like trendy clothing for a small budget. Be careful, they are JUNIORS PLUS, therefore you should size up when ordering to be safe!

Here are some great options that I love:

Dress

But of course, I would FALL IN LOVE with this piece:

Now we all know I’m not into form fitting clothing but I REALLY DO LOVE THIS PIECE!!

Geesh, I am such a black all over type of girl I guess.

Of course red and gold looks great for the holidays, so why not?

Some other places that have some great options that I would take a gander at:
